Today marks the official launch of my latest novel: A Lasting Cure for Magic!

This is the next book in the “Contagious Magic” series, and like the first two books in this series, I  think this one is a lot of fun. I know I had a great time writing it.

A Lasting Cure for Magic has magic (of course) with ancient Sorcerers and teenaged wizards, lots of secret histories, a fair bit of globetrotting, plenty of non-stop action, and of course, pizza.

Like the other book in the series, I wrote this as an “all ages” books — there’s some magic-related violence, but no f-bombs, sex, or other R-rated material: a pretty tame PG rating, I’d say.

This is the third book in the Contagious Magic series of novels. Book one is A Sudden Outbreak of Magic, and book two is A Wild Epidemic of Magic.

New Audiobook: A Sudden Outbreak of Magic

A Sudden Outbreak of Magic (audio version)

In what will be the first of hopefully many new audio versions of my novels and stories, I’m happy to announce that my all-ages contemporary fantasy novel A Sudden Outbreak of Magic is now an audiobook!

You can find the audiobook at Amazon, Audible, and iTunes.

The novel is narrated by Chicago-based actress Alyson Grauer. She did a fantastic job with all the wild action in the book, as well as giving each character a specific voice. When I first heard how she read Maria Haze’s chapters, for instance, I got chills –she nailed it.

New Contagious Magic chapters, new Contagious Magic sounds

2012 has turned in the Year of Contagious Magic. Who knew?

Work has been progressing slowly but steadily here, as I get back into the swing of the 3rd novel in the CM series. I’ve gotten the opening nailed down, and just last Friday finished up chapter three. Woo!

In the spirit of the Free Fiction page, where I offer some free short stories and excerpts from various novels, you can now read Chapter 3 in its entirety.

It may not make a LOT of sense if you haven’t read the first 2 books, but I try to get folks up to speed quickly. This happens mostly in chapter 1, which is available along with the prologue and chapter 2 from the A Lasting Cure for Magic main page.

Today marks the official launch of my latest novel: A Wild Epidemic of Magic from UnWrecked Press!

This is a novel I’ve wanted to write for years, but never had the time. I also think I needed to let it percolate a while in the back of my mind, until I had it right.

This time, I believe I’ve gotten it right.

I’m really excited about sharing this book with the world. It’s the next book in my “Contagious Magic” series, the first sequel to A Sudden Outbreak of Magic. It’s a lot of fun — magic, ancient Sorcerers, secret histories, road trips, and even a little romance here and there.

I think of these Contagious Magic books as “all ages” books — there’s some magic-related violence, but no f-bombs, sex, or other R-rated material: a PG rating, I’d say.

Watch for the next book in the series, A Lasting Cure for Magic, coming in late 2012!

In case you’re just dropping in today, here’s a link to the Prologue.

Finally, before you dive into chapter 1, here are five facts you ought to know from book 1, A Sudden Outbreak of Magic, if you haven’t read that yet:

  • Magic is contagious, and twin teenagers Kelley and Jeroan Strickland both got “infected” in book 1.
  • Before book 1, Jeroan got into all sorts of trouble in Chicago, so he and his family moved to Dubuque, Iowa, to get a new start.
  • At the end of book 1, Kelley stayed in Dubuque to ward off an ancient Sorcerer named Michael Azure.
  • Jeroan, meanwhile, accepted Azure’s offer to train with him at Azure’s far-off Center, accompanied by Azure’s operatives York, Mexico, and Orleans.
  • And Azure… well, he disappeared at the end of book one. Okay, fine, a dragon carried him off, if you really wanna know. But you really had to be there (or read the first book)…
