According to my work calendar, today is Day 263 of 2016. Which means that there are just 103 days left in 2016! That’s less than 15 weeks left to nail those resolutions.

Are you getting all your stuff done?

I’m not. I had high hopes for the year, and I fell down on the job. Reality intrudes, as always, and I never seem to have the energy or time to get it all done.

But instead of beating myself up over them, I’m going to re-jigger, recalculate, and see what I can do with the rest of the year. Are you with me on this path?

As of this morning, I’m back on track with my novel. So my goal is to finish that book, which is called Lost & Finders (you can now read an excerpt from chapter 1!) in the next 103 days.  Hopefully sooner than that. If I really get on a roll, I’d love to keep on going right into book 3 of that series.

Two novels in 103 days?

If I do 4 pages a day, which equals 1,000 words (give or take) that’s over 400 pages, or over 100,000 words. Those two novels would be kinda short…

But! If I do 5-6 pages a day, I can do it. That’s about 1,500 words a day. I usually average about 700-800 words per hour, once I’m on a roll and in the headspace of my book.

And with 1,500 words/day for the next 103 days, I’ll be able to actually hit my 2016 Word Count goal!

So I’m throwing that down as Challenge #1.

Challenge #2 for the next 103 days?  Lose 2 pounds a week. That’s about 30 pounds. I know that also sounds crazy, but what’ve I got to lose? Other than some extra girth around my middle.

I have other goals as well, but those are the two big, crazy ones for the rest of the year. I started my early-morning routine today, exercising and then writing before everyone else in the house woke up. I plan on sticking to that in the next 103 days.

Feel free to hold my feet to fire and make sure I get it all done, would you? Thanks.

And so… What are your goals for the rest of the year???

  1. You are to writing as I am to running. I feel like I fell down with my goals. No marathon due to some sciatic issues, getting old problems. My goals for the rest of the year are to actually enjoy running. Do what I want to do in a day instead of “having” to do in a day.
Just enjoy the last 103 days of 2016!!!!

    1. I think that’s the secret – to enjoy the process! It’s hard to know how hard to push yourself versus how easy to go on yourself.

As for running, I keep trying to jog/walk, but it’s too painful. Maybe after I drop these 30 pounds (for this year!). Only 28 to go!!!

      Hope you’re feeling better!
