Here’s this week’s Free Fiction Friday story, coming your way from UnWrecked Press.
UPDATE: Now that the free week is over, you can read the rest of this story (and the other two previous stories) by downloading a copy of “Triplets: Brief Tales of the Future, Futility, and Family” from Smashwords or Amazon.
You can read it on your laptop, desktop, Kindle, iPad, Nook, iPhone, or whatever device you use to read ebooks.
Here’s the last of my three odd little short-shorts — this one’s about babies. Some adult language ensues, so consider yourself warned!
Origins
Stories are like babies — most of ’em look the same at the start, then they start growing, putting on weight. And then they’re gone, out of my hands, little monsters unleashed on an unsuspecting world.
Let me tell you story about a guy and someone else’s baby. Stop me if you’ve heard this one.
It all happened in a hospital, early in the morning before the shift change. In that weird, muzzy hour when people who’ve been awake for too long start to see things right before they blink, and that blink turns into a five-second doze.
The guy was there to see his wife have their first baby, I think is how it goes.
