I’ll be hitting one, maybe two local stores in Raleigh to support Free Comic Book Day this Saturday. What a cool concept — to promote comics, a bunch of comic publishers work with comic shops to GIVE comics away.
You know what they say — the first’s one’s always free.
I went last year with Drew, and he got some Simpsons comics and a Wizard of Oz comic. I’m hoping he’ll want to go again, but he was sort of ho-hum about it all.
My big question is — do I throw caution to the wind and bring our 2-and-a-half-year-old Mitch, too?
Thing is, Mitch LOVES books. Loves going through stacks of books. While Drew would prefer to build something, like a contraption or a tower or train tracks, Mitch would rather be read a pile of books, or flip through them himself.
But do I want to unleash 40 pounds of pure energy in the area comics shops? And did I mention that he sometimes likes to tear up books…?
I’ll let you know how it goes.
That sounds awesome! Yes, please do share how the day goes; wish I could be there! I remember taking Grandma to the comic store in Chapel Hill: VERY COOL!

Hey Beth — is there still a comic shop in Dubuque? I remember one downtown.
Not sure if this is the same one I went to — Comic World & Things, 2255 John F. Kennedy Rd., Dubuque, IA, 52002
