I just figured I’d indulge myself (and what’s a website for, if not lots of self-indulgence?) and talk a tiny bit about what I’m working on right now. As I said before, I put aside the novel that’s been dogging me all year, Maps and Legends, which is a book that I think I’ll have fun writing next. After this book. Or books, as it could turn out.
I’m working on a revamp of my fantasy novel, and I’ve renamed the book once again. I’m actually thinking of it as a trilogy.
Here’s the tag line(s):
Magic is contagious, and once it touches you, anything is possible. That’s not necessarily a good thing.
The Contagious Magic trilogy is about the way magic finds people, even those who aren’t looking for it. And once magic touches you, it’s up to you to decide where to go next…
Tentative titles for the books in the trilogy are:
- A Sudden Outbreak of Magic
- A Wild Epidemic of Magic
- A Lasting Cure for Magic or No Cure for Magic
All of this is subject to change, of course, but it’s my current plan of action. And I’m having a ball. If it wasn’t fun, how would I be able to get up at 4:30 in the morning to work on it?
And at some point I want to work on my baseball novel again. And maybe even my Iowa farm novel. Or possibly a sequel or two to the Wannoshay novel (if we can sell mass-market paperback rights for the first book to a publisher)… In any case, I think I’ll have stuff to do through 2010, for sure.
The tentative titles for trilogy are tantalizing!

Hey, I know I’m jumping in a little late, but the new series sounds really cool! Even the titles are cool, which is always a good sign.
My brain is exploding with the possibilities, and I can’t wait to curl up with the books. Good luck with it!

Thanks, Suanne! While I’m STILL not done with the book we workshopped earlier this year, I’m having a ball with the first book in this tentative trilogy.
Hope you’re getting lots of writing done as well.
