Finally, finally got back to the ol’ maps novel. For some reason (probably a variety of reasons, really), I’ve been having trouble with this book. I don’t know if it’s because the book has already sold, and I’m not sure how to deal with that, or maybe it’s that crappy PW review of my other novel making me doubt myself. Stupid reviews. Mustn’t read them, preciousss…
In any case, I’m starting to get a good feel for the book again, especially the characters. That’s what’s going to drive the rest of the story. Characters and their agendas.
And so, if I want to get a draft done by Halloween, I’m gonna have to do about 8 pages or 2,000 words a day. Yeah. That’s probably not gonna happen. Although I did do over 500 words just now, in half an hour. If I can just sit down and jam, without censoring or editing myself, I can get a lot done in just 2 hours a day. Just need to write and not get distracted.
But hey, check it out — I’m 1/4 of the way there!
Not that I really have anything on PW, but still, it’s important to remember that different people have different tastes, and I really liked A Gathering of Doorways. I found it incredibly unique, and very refreshing, too. 🙂
And wow, 1/4 finished already. Bravo!

Well, most of that opening 1/4 was written already, so it’s not that big a deal…! Tonight I start the mad dash of drafting. I have a plan to finish drafting by Halloween that’s probably too crazy to accomplish, but I may share it later on today in an entry.
Thanks for the kind words about Gathering! I needed that. 🙂
